Governance & independence
Our commitment to independence and integrity
Medicines for Africa operates with a mission-first commitment to protecting patient safety though stronger medicines safety systems across the continent.
Our work is guided by principles of independence, transparency, and professional integrity. We believe that meaningful engagement on medicines and patient safety requires clarity of purpose and freedom from undue influence.

Independence
Medicines for Africa is guided by patient safety and does not represent political, commercial or partisan interests. To achieve our mission, we engage with a range of stakeholders — including regulatory authorities, healthcare professionals, communities and healthcare institutions — to collaborate on strengthening patient safety and public interest. Our positions and contributions are informed by evidence and strategic dialogue with experts aimed at strengthening system-level patient safety, rather than by the interests of any single stakeholder group. |
Mission-first engagement
We approach partnerships and collaborations with a clear commitment grounded in our mission to protect patient safety from unsafe medicines through strenger medicines safety systems.
Engagement with partners on patient safety initiatives does not imply endorsement of specific policies, commercial products, or institutional decisions. Our focus remains on supporting constructive approaches to better protecting patients by reducing the impact of unsafe medicines on patient well-being.

Transparency
We are committed to transparency in our engagements.
Where appropriate, we disclose partnerships and collaborations in line with professional standards and applicable governance requirements.
Our communications are intended to contribute to clarity and informed understanding rather than to advance narrow interests.
